WEEK 56

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hola Amigos!  This week was pretty awesome we saw many miracles but my favorite was  Saturday night we were in an area in our sector that we rarely go to. We were headed to visit a less active.  When we got to his house no one answered the door but we could see someone playing video games inside.  I really don't think he could hear us because his game was SO loud.  Me being a stubborn child kept trying for at least ten minutes.  He never did come out so I stopped trying and thought for a few minutes and felt like there was another place we should be.  I thought of other people we might know that lived near by.  That's when I remembered and old investigator that lived forty walking minutes away!  That is where we headed.  We got there and this Grandma answered the door and what she was saying to us didn't make much sense.  We were just about to leave and then the old investigator came out and invited us in!!!  He told us that he had been wanting to talk to us again and had even been looking for our phone number to call us.  I know that we were guided by the spirit to visit him.  Then on Sunday he and his son came to church.  It is just so cool to be an instrument in the Lord's hands.  I know that if we always follow God  he will always guide us to where we need to be.

Have a good week!

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Elder Hammond and I had a great week doing lots of teaching!  Most of the churches here have big soccer fields and it's nice because we gather up the kids on the street and play soccer with them right next to the church.  It is a great way to introduce the kids to the gospel and pretty fun at the same time!  However my knee doesn't last very long so I cant play much but its still pretty fun!!

I also witnessed a cool miracle this week!  We taught this girl last week and had another appointment with her this week.  That too is a miracle but not the one I am about to tell you.  Before the lesson I really felt like I should call this lady to also come to the lesson with us.  I call her up and she agrees to come with us.  When we walk into the church and the girls see each other they are like, "WhAT?!?  - we are cousins!!"  My comp and I just looked at each other like wow!  It was pretty cool and we both knew God had put that into place.   The girl is really going through had times and doesn't have much support from her family.  Yesterday we were able to give her a blessing.  I hope she will be able to be baptized.  It sure is great to see how the gospel can help and change people so much.

This week we have changes and I possibly could be changed from my homie Elder  Hammond but we definitely have had fun times and much success.  I love you all and I hope everyone enjoys the start of a new school year! :)

WEEK 55

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey Guys this week has been pretty good! Elder Martinez and I have been working hard!

Lately I have been writing one miracle that happens to me in my journal everyday. I think that the best miracle so far has been a couple weeks ago I fasted in hopes that we would have more of our investigators show up to church on Sunday's.  I know that the Lord answers our prayers and even better when we add a fast to it!  We finally had an investigator come to church two weeks in a row!  I know that really doesn't seem like much but I can honestly say that the Lord answered my prayer and my fast, and it was so awesome to see that!

I know that Heavenly Father is always watching us and listening to our prayers.  I know that he always wants to help us because we are his sons and daughters and he loves us and wants the best for us!

I love you all

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was a little different we had a great experience with our investigator Janira.  She got baptized!  Janira was so happy and it is super cool to see how the gospel changes peoples lives for the better.  It was awesome because she asked that all the elders from our zone come to her baptism.  She also wanted us all dressed in baptism clothes so everyone did! I had the opportunity to baptize her.  I was pretty scared because she has a really really long name and I didn't want to screw it up.  Well it went great and I even got her name just right.  The other great thing was several other investigators came to her baptism!

That night after the baptism all the other elders didnt have time to go back to their cities so we all slept at our house.  It was so awesome haha we pretty much just had a huge sleep over!  We ordered fried sushi to eat with everyone it was so much fun I loved it.

We are just working hard and looking for other people that can be chosen by God to be
baptized and see the gospel change their lives!

Love,

Elder Colin Eyre

WEEK 54

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty crazy!  Elder Hammond and I had a fun time we invited every person we saw to get baptized.  We will see who shows up for church on Sunday!

One of our days contacting we went out with movies from the church and started giving them to people.  It turns out the Chilean people really love gifts!  It was funny because we gave out twenty movies and then the next day one of our investigators was like hey so the movie you guys gave me had no disk in it, Hahaha!  I guess we had been giving out just movie covers.  It did give us a good laugh.  I am sure some of the people were like ahhh those Mormons.

One of my favorite scriptures is Jacob 4:6
"Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea."

It is so cool to see people start with hope and to make decisions to come closer to Christ.  I have seen people change their lives for something that is way better - the gospel of Jesus Christ!

I love you guys tons and I hope everyone has a good week:)

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

This week was pretty great hear in Chile.  First of all it warmed up a little so that was really nice.  Second, we have a new investigator we have been working with.  It always makes me so happy but at the same time so nervous that something will go wrong.  Then when they show up for church I am just SO happy!

This week I got to go the the temple and feel the spirit of the Lord so strong.  Then I also had a great tender mercy.  I was leaving the temple and this Elder started yelling my name.  I had no clue who he was.  Then he said he was from the Viña del Mar mission.   Then Colin's mission presidents wife from Viña came over with some of the other sister missionaries to say Hi!  It is so awesome to me when I have these experiences on my mission.  It makes me so happy knowing that I've got my twin bro so close and one of my best friends Elder Salazar also in Chile.

Love you all back home and have a great week.

WEEK 53

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Hey Hey Hey! It's pretty good up here in ghetto Park City (Salamanca).  I am loving my new area.

I was a little bummed because we almost had a baptism with Janira this past Saturday but it fell through so hopefully next Saturday will work for her. I really do see miracles in the mission. Janira was sharing her experience with us to a friend.  This friend happens to be a member and Janira was sharing with her how happy she has been and the things she is learning about the gospel and that she wants to share that with others!  It makes her so happy and I know that this is just a miracle.  Janira has completely changed and its pretty cool to see!

Anyways this week nothing too crazy happened.  We have been teaching a lot of people which is great.  The guy we baptized last week just got the Aaronic Priesthood and it's awesome because next week he will bless the sacrament.  It's so cool to see him progressing in the church!  I just want others to have this same happiness! The truth is when members help the missionaries the baptisms just start coming.  Working with the members the investigators are able to see first hand what makes us all so happy.

I hope that everyone can just be an example and invite someone to church and see the miracles that Heavenly Father will bring to our lives and others!

I love everyone so much and hope everyone has an incredible semana!

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

This week was a pretty boring week on the mission.  My comp hurt his knee this last Tuesday playing soccer.  We have been in the pension the entire week.  You might be thinking that sounds nice and relaxing but as a missionary there is not a whole lot we can do.  So for about a week all I have done is read the scriptures and listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir!  Yep that's mostly what I did!!  The only fun I had was making dozens and dozens of cookies.  My mom sent me her cookie recipe and brown sugar and chocolate chips so that was awesome.  They were SO good, not as good as my moms but pretty good!

The other thing I did that was pretty cool was with all the extra time I've had I decided to go back and read my mission journals from the beginning.  It was pretty cool to see all of the progress I have made this past year.  I have learned so much and my testimony has grown.  It also makes me really happy for all of the progress that I will make in the future.

Thanks to everyone I love all of you and don't forget to soak up some rays for me - because there aren't any rays here right now haha!  Have and awesome week!

WEEK 52

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Had the BEST WEEK!  We were very busy and got a lot done.  First we had a baptism and it was super cool because the guy has been drinking alcohol and smoking for the past 30 years!  The missionaries have been teaching him for a long time but this week he stopped doing it all!  I'm not sure how he did it but he did.  I know Heavenly Father has helped him because he couldn't have done that on his own.  During his baptsim interview he was just like, " I won, I won, I won!"  It was so awesome!

Saturday we had a huge activity with our zone.  There was a church open house and the missionaries just give a ton of tours it was cool.  My comp and I were in the baptism font room explaining baptism and inviting people to get baptised which was just awesome.  It is so cool to be guided by the spirit, we asked some kid to get baptised in front of ten people and he was like uhhhh ya I'll do it!  We should be teaching him this week too.  It was definitely a great day especially being there with all my friends I have made in my zone.

After the activity we baptised Oscar and the whole zone stayed to watch.  That was just so awesome!  I really felt like there were so many miracles Saturday.  We also have another baptism scheduled next week.  Her name is Janira and she is just so hyped to be a member of the church and be baptized.

It has been so cool to see my prayers being answered and knowing that people are making decisions to get baptized.  That single decision will bless them forever and it just makes me happy!  I love everyone so much.  This past week was my dad's birthday so everyone shoot him a text because he is the best!

Love,
Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey familia!  This week has been pretty good.  We've been having so many lessons with new investigators which is really fun.  I love being able to talk to people who want to learn more about the gospel.

This week we had dinner with a family in my branch.  The Barrales family is super cool and one of their sons served in Ivins, Utah!  We shared a message with them after dinner and we also asked them when was the last time they felt the spirit.  It really turned out pretty neat and every single person shared when they feel the spirit.  After they asked us when we felt the spirit last.  I thought for a second and then said well being a missionary we feel the spirit a lot.  Then I told them the last time I felt the spirit was when each one of you shared your testimony with us.

I love being a missionary and that I can hear so many testimonies each week.  Testimonies of others always helps strengthen mine and testifies to me that this is the true church of Jesus Christ.

Love,
Elder Colby Eyre
