WEEK 90

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Hey this week was pretty great!  We worked really hard and had some fun:)  On Easter I made sure the Eyre legend kept strong by having my comp go on an Easter egg hunt!.  It was so funny he found the eggs and I timed him to see how long it would take to find them.  Then he hid the eggs and timed me - we tied!  Haha!  On Thursday we had a stake activity giving tours of our church.  We ended up having over twenty investigators walk through so that was super cool.  Hopefully we will have some good contacts come from that.  Then on Friday we had a Zone Conference and it was pretty great.  The mish pres gave a capacitation (training) on the Book of Mormon but it was really cool:)  Lastly, today I have to get a flu shot but my bro Elder Salazar will be there so I should be good.  Hopefully no passing out!!  All is well in Chile and I hope all is great in the U.S.A.

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats Up fambam and friends! This week has been pretty good. We have been teaching quite a few people.  One family we are teaching are immigrants from Venezuela.  They are really cool and very close to being baptized.  They also have cousin from Venezuela we are teaching as well. This past Sunday the cousin decided to come to church and then last night we had a Family Home Evening with two other families and the people from Venezuela.  We decided to share a lesson about service and the importance of it in our lives! It was so cool because at the end of the lession I talked about the happiness that service has brought me in my life and shared a story.  Then I asked if anyone else had something to share on service.   Everyone had something to share even the cousin.  When the cousin began sharing tears started to come to his eyes and I know we could all feel the spirit so strong.  I love being able to see how the sprit prepares others to receive the gospel.  The mission is really awesome and so full of little experiences like this.  I'm so thankful for the Spirit and that I am able to have all these little experiences which continue to strengthen my testimony.

I love all you guys back home so much and I'm so thankful for everything you guys do for me! Also a shout out to my great parents for making my Easter fun and sending me a package - you guys are the best!

WEEK 89

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty great!  We were able to baptize two people.  The first was Benjamin who is just a little kid and he is so awesome.  Then we baptized Emilio who is seventeen, he is really big and so funny. I just love him, he is like a bro.  I love being able to help these families out so that they too can have an eternal family.

My comp and I are working really hard and its fun.  We have a lot of people to teach and we should have another baptism this coming week.  I am loving the work and I know that God always wants to bless us in every aspect of our lives

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats up family and freinds! This week has been pretty fun. In our ward we were able to do something that is called an Open Chapel.  It's kind of like an open house for investigators.  We set up a few things in the chapel for people to be able to tour and learn a little bit about our church.   Before the Open Chapel we had passed out over 400 fliers during the week to invite people to come and learn.  We had also given them to members to invite non-members.  We hoped everyone would come and meet the mormons haha!  When the Open Chapel started there wasn't a soul in sight.  There were only a few members and the missionaries!  Luckily we had a few other missionaries come from other wards so we all went out in front of our chapel trying to contact people and invite them to come in.  We were able to talk a good amount of people to come in and take a tour.  It was just funny knowing how many fliers we passed out and not a single person come to see the open house because of them!

On the bright side of things today we were able to go to the temple and do a session.  I got really lucky because when we were just about to get there I realized that I had forgotten my recommend.  I told my comp we were going to have to do some amazing sweet talking to get in.  I even thought how I would act so they would have sympathy for me and let me in.  Well it didn't work at all but luckily they got a hold of my mission president and they were able to let me in!   It is just so awesome because every time I go to the temple my testimony strengthens about families and that they can be forever. That is why it is so important to keep our promises with our Heavenly Father so we can receive all the blessings he has in store for us. I love you guys all so much back home have an amazing week!

WEEK 88

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This past week we had permission to visit my comps last area.  It just so happens to be my good friend, Elder Salazar's area.  We had a great visit and also made sure to get in a great lesson.  It was so much fun.

We also had a baptism set this week but on Sunday the Sister called me and her son who was getting baptized was throwing up all night.  We ended up giving him a priesthood blessing which was pretty awesome.  He will probably get baptized next week.

I just loved General Conference on Sunday.  It was kinda weird to think that it was my last conference on the mission -  but its all good:)   I loved the last talk from Elder Cook.  When he  talked about the adversary and how many times when we face difficulties then we start to progress.  Having struggles is part of the refiner's fire and helps us to become better and grow.

I hope that everyone is having a great time in the USA, love you all a ton:)

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats up family and friends way back home! This week was really fun and pretty great because it was Conference weekend! I'm pretty sure all the missionaries in the world will write home this week about how awesome it was.  I figure I will jump on the chance and do so myself haha.  I loved all the talks that were given in this conference. I especially loved the one given by Elder Costa.  He gave a talk for all the investigators and I loved it because it talked so much about all the basic principles you need to be baptized.  He talked about repentance and how nothing draws us closer to Christ than a desire to change.  The other awesome thing was we had some investigators that came to that session and heard Elder Costa's talk.  I was just jumping up and down inside when I heard it because it was perfect for them to hear.  Afterwards we were able to visit the investigators and I asked them what talk was their favorite and they both said the talk from Elder Costa!  We challenged them both to be baptized and they both said YES!  I think the coolest thing was just how perfectly the Lord does his work and how the Holy Ghost works with all of us because Elder Costa's talk was exactly what they needed to hear and all it took was a little push from and us and they said yes.

I love the gospel and I have learned on the mission how the Lord knows each one of our needs and he will provide for them if we just accept him.  I love all you guys back home so stinking much and I hope you have an amazing week.

WEEK 87

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre from Vina del Mar Chile:

Buena this week was pretty great!  I have a new companion and it's crazy cuz I'm going to be his last comp before he heads home:)  His parents are also going to come to Chile to pick him up so that is cool:)

We have been working hard and they say that the Elders that are close to finishing the mish get some great blessings.  I think we will be able to help a lot of people feel the spirit and get BAPTIZED so that is super cool!  We are still working with our investigator, Carolina.  She had planned to get baptized this past week but then called me and said she wasn't ready.  We have also been working with a kid named Benjamin.   We just baptized one of his family members and now he wants to have the missionary lessons so that is pretty sweet.

Anyways I'm super pumped for General Conference.  It's going to by way fun.  For us missionaries it's like watching a real great movie!

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty good!  We were able to have an amazing experience and go to the temple with two of our investigators. It was awesome because the church did a really cool event for the start of the Easter season.  We have cards and a video to share with others on the atonement and the real meaning of Easter.  I loved it so much because the video talked so much about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that he lives today!  It is so awesome because we can feel his love for us every single day and we can know that we can overcome death through Jesus Christ.  We can also have eternal families.

I love this gospel so much and I'm so thankful for the amazing family that I have back home! I love all you guys so much and I hope you have an amazing week!

WEEK 86

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Well things are getting pretty crazy here in Vina Del Mar!  It is time to change companions which is really sad because I have had a great time and lots of success with Elder Cheney.  He has become a real good friend.  My new comp is Elder Hansen from Tooele, Utah and he is on his last transfer so that is pretty cool.  We are already kind of friends but I'm always really happy to be able to serve in the lords vineyard!

This week we had a lot of fun and we worked hard.  We almost got a baptism with Carolina but she is going to end up getting baptized next week.  It was way cool because at first she came to church with just her daughters.  Her husband is actually less active but on Sunday the entire family came and her husband showed up all dressed in his nice suit.  It made me so happy to see all her family there.

Chile is fun and I love being able to see God's hand in not only my life but others. :)

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey Homies back home - I miss you all!  This week has been pretty good. We had Stake Conference and Pres. Morgan came and spoke on surrounding ourselves with positive and Christ-like things.  He started out with the story of Lot in the Bible and how after he had separated from Abraham he went and set up his tent looking out over the city of Sodom.  This was a very sinful city.  King Benjamin called all of the people in the kingdom to come hear him speak.  All those that came set up their tents to face King Benjamin.  Everyday as the people left their tents they would see King Benjamin's tent and were reminded of his faithfulness and righteousness and what a good example he was.  Now in today's world we can't really change our front doors to face something great like the temple but we can surround ourselves with uplifting pictures or quotes that we will help us grow spiritually and also help us grow closer to Christ.

I love this example so much and I know that as we surround ourselves with uplifting things we will grow closer to Christ and we will feel his spirit stronger.

I love all you guys back home so much have a great week!

WEEK 85

This Week from Elder Colin Eyre from Vina del Mar Chile:

What's up!  So right now as I'm sitting down there are two adults next to me and they are flirting and its cracking me up sooo much - it's so awkward :).

This week was pretty great we had a meeting with the mission president and it was awesome.  We talked a lot about faith and the power of faith so that was pretty cool.

Jacob 4:6 Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.

In Jacob 4:6 we can learn about how powerful our faith really can be but I think it kinda takes an entire lifetime to be able to get to that - haha!  Everyday I try to grow my faith here in the mission.

We have a lady that we are teaching she is really cool and her name is Carolina.  She is really nice and possibly will get baptized this week so we are pretty pumped about that.

I know that God loves us and wants us to be blesssed:)

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats up friends and family! I miss you guys tons but this week has been pretty good! We had this conference with our area president a few weeks ago.  He talked a lot about setting goals and achieving the goals to help us stay focused with our faith and lots of work which go hand in hand.  It was really cool because I went to the meeting with one question in my mind and it was, "How can I be more focused?" It was funny because thats pretty much what the whole meeting was about.

So to get back on track with this week my new companion and I have been trying to set high goals and do everything in our power to complete them.  It's been pretty awesome because we have been able to see so many miracles by doing this. One night my companion and I set a goal to find two new investigators.  The next day we were on the way back to our house and I was like crap we worked pretty hard today and we only have one new investigator.  In my head I was like I know the lord will help me out on this one and I will do my part and talk to everyone we pass going back to our house.  Well guess what, the first person that we talked to accepted our message and told us we could come back to his house so we left him with a prayer and met our goal!  This has really helped me learn the importance of setting goals and doing everything in our power to reach them.  I know when we do this we can see miracles happen and also see the hand of God in our lives!

I'm so thankful for this gospel and for the time I get to spend on the mission. I hope everyone back home has an amazing week!

WEEK 84

This Week From Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty good!  My comp and I are teaching a lot of different people which is awesome:).   We are teaching this lady and her mother in law lives in Florida and is Mormon.  She is visiting for the month and so its been great because she comes to the lessons and helps us teach.  She has been a great tool in reaching her daughter in law. I just love being able to see how the gospel can bless the lives of other people:)

Lately we have been going to ViƱa which is always an adventure - people are crazy there, haha!  I really am blessed here and I hope everyone can have a good week:)

This Week From Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty fun! I got a new companion straight out of the MTC. I love him, his name is Elder Moxley and he is from Boise, Idaho!  He is a way cool dude and I love being with him!  We have been having a lot of fun and at the same time are working really hard.

Well this week was fast Sunday so I decided to fast for a family that we are teaching.  They are a really neat family and are progressing but have a few rough edges that need smoothing out haha.  This past week we challenged them to continue reading the Book of Mormon and to pray asking if its true and if they should be baptized. Then for the great surprise, after Sacrament Meeting on Sunday the dad came up to me and my companion and just said, "I want to be baptized!"  I was in shock because that was all he said to us.  It was really so cool because I got to see two miracles.  One was the power of the Book of Mormon with prayer to see if its true.  The second miracle was seeing the power fasting has!  It was so awesome to see how quickly my answer to my fast came and I know it came with the help of God.

I love being on the mission and seeing all of these miracles.  Sometimes the mission is hard but in the end its definitely  all worth it! Thanks to everyone who encourages me to be out here I love you all.  Have an amazing week!
