Week 21

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

I SAW MY HOMIE CHANDLER SALAZAR YESTERDAY BEST THING OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

The  past three days we had this musical missionary program going on.  There were about twenty of the two hundred missionaries from my mission in the program.  It was on the beach right in Vina del Mar.  We aren’t allowed on the beach but were for this event.  Everything was so beautiful.  Members were encouraged to bring investigators each night. My ticket was for Saturday night and I was so disappointed that Chandler was not there.  I did have an awesome time though.  My first companion, Elder Miller was there and I just love him we talked during most of the concert.  On our drive home that night we were  going through the real touristy areas and all I can say is it was just so sick!  The city life here in Vina is so pretty. Then on Sunday we got a call from some members that had extra tickets for us for Sunday nights performance.  I was thinking I really hope I run into Chan Man.  I’m sitting down and looking all around the concert.  There he is!  I see Chandler at the top of the stands.  I just freaked out, left my comp and ran up to Chandler.  When he saw me he just freaked out!  We were both SO happy.  We talked the rest of the night.  That night when I got home I felt so much warmth in my heart.  All I could do was pray and say thank you to Heavenly Father and let him know how grateful I was that he helped me find one of my best friends.  I know that God is watching out for me and always has my back!

This week was fun we ran into this drunk guy and he stopped before we got to him and closed his eyes. We were like hola como esta and he was just like freaking out.  We wanted to visit his house but he said no we are to special to go to his house and then he touched our faces and told us how beautiful we were.  I think drunk people can see our light.  When we went to leave (we were in a dangerous area of our sector) he was like go wherever you please cuz God is watching out for you.  It was funny but also cool that some drunk guy was saying that!

Life is good I have hard moments but I just keep pushing forward.  God is there for me.  My love for the Book of Mormon grows every week.  I wish I could just talk about it all day cuz there are some real cool stories in it. I know that God can change people it just takes time!

Anyways love you all tons have Merry Christmas!

With much love Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys its Elder Eyre!

Nothing too crazy happened this week.  What has been really great is reading about the Saviors birth and what he has done for us everyday this month. My awesome Mom sent me an advent calendar with some letters from my fam for everyday this month.  Each day I have also been able to read a passage of scripture about the Saviors birth or something the Savior did.  This has been SO great to learn about and I love it SO much.  Here’s a shout out to everyone who wrote me a letter, I love you.  Only three days left and I get to talk to my family!  I love you all so much have the best week.  My pic this week is one of my homies down here in Santiago.

Love you guys,

WEEK 20

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty good.  My comp and I are pretty different but we get along really well and it has been fun getting to know him better.  I also feel like we work really well as a team.  He has been out just eight months so I feel like we are growing together.  He is great!

Thanks for everyone who has written me letters for my advent calendar it is super fun to read every day and it seems like the letters just keep getting better and better.

One thing I am trying to do is not do my will but God's will.  At times it can be hard but really I'm out here for him and not for myself.  It is much easier said than done but I am trying to work on that.  Example, I really don't want to give a church talk in Spanish but it shouldn't matter cuz it's not my will but the Lords.  I am super lucky cuz I haven't been called on to give a talk yet haha.  Anyways I'm happy to be serving the Lord most of the time.

With my new companion we are trying to focus on new members and investigators.  It isn't always easy to contact new people but I know we need to work on that.  I just love the members and being in their homes so sometimes it's easy to just hang out with them and not be out contacting.  So that is what we are working on - new members and investigators.

I have been writing in my way sweet journal every day.  I know I don't remember all my stories on P-Day so when I get home I will remember all my awesome experiences from my journal!

This week one of our investigators was telling us that his way of prayer is through meditation.  I was trying to explain just say Dear Heavenly Father but he just doesn't get it.  He just won't do it so we are going to work with him on that this week.  One scripture that I read this week and love is in Mosiah 3:19

19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
I love this because it talks a lot about putting off the natural man and it can be hard but I know that when we do that and do Gods will we are blessed.  Thanks for all the prayers they help more than you would know.  I love you guys a ton and have a stellar week! I'm in normal clothes right now and feel weird haha.

Peace out homies,
Love Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week wasnt that interesting sorry nothing to great happened.

I want to share a scripture I read this week in district class.  It's in Mosiah 2:41

41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

It just seems so simple.  I love that it talks about never ending happiness when we keep the commandments.  I know that this is so true and that when we keep the commandments we will really all have so much happiness in our lives and we will receive blessing after blessing.

Today I went on a hike with the missionaries in my zone.  It was in a really touristy part of Santiago.  I sent a pic of it.  Well I ran into some people from the USA!  I stopped and talked to them in English they noted that I use si instead of yes.  I thought that was sort of funny.  I  hope I dont forget my English haha!

I love you guys all so much and I hope you guys have a killer week.

Love,
Elder Colby Eyre

WEEK 19

This Week from Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week has been crazy but also super slow for some reason. The most exciting part of the week was finding out all the missionarys that work in the office and my mission president and his wife saw my bro!  I was beyond

jealous about that haha.  Hermana Diaz, my mission president's wife was super happy to come find me and show me pictures on her iPad of Colby.  I just might have smiled bigger than I ever have on my mission!  My bro is killin it in Santiago and I love and think about him every day.  It is just crazy how small the world is!

This week I got a new comp, Elder Rogerson.  He was born in the Ukraine and was adopted when he was four years old by an American family.  His dad is the Secretary to an Ambassador of the United States.  Elder Rogerson has literally lived all over the world.  Elder Rogerson is 21 years old.  He is also super formal probably because he has been around government people all his life.  One really great thing is he is always lifting me up and that has helped me a ton.  He has been out eight months now.  His last area was about six hours north of Viña del Mar.  One thing I have noticed is every missionary interprets the missionary rules a little differently and so his views are a little different than Elder Diaz so that has been an adjustment this week.   What I do like is I am able to do most of our planning for the day because I have been in the area for the last four months and so I guide us all day.  We have been doing lots of contacting and its cool because we meet a lot of people from all over the world and hear lots of different stories.  I also found out that my comps best friend trained my bro in Santiago.  Elder Rogerson is great and I love the change.

Anyways the week was good we have the challenge this week to invite seven people to baptism so that should be fun haha!  I love you all my testimony is strengthened every week.  I have been sick this week and even lost my voice which has never happened before.  It was a great joke to use during lessons this past week with my voice sounding like a twelve year old boy.  I am feeling better now.

All is well love you guys tons,
Elder Colin Eyre

This Week from Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been super!  I have learned a ton and also had a lot of change. I got a new comp this week, Elder Aguirre.  It used to just myself and Elder Collins in our apartment.  Now there are four of us.  I had to rearrange my stuff a little to make room for them.  I now live with three missionaries all from Argentina.  It's great, one of them is pretty funny and knows a good amount of English.  It's pretty funny he likes me to teach him words and stuff  haha!  My comp,  Elder Aguirre is super awesome he only has three months left on his mission so he knows a ton.  I am trying to learn all I can from him.  It is super cool to be in lessons and hear him teach he is just SO good.  We work really well together and we are doing a good amount of contacting.  I just can't believe how much I am learning it is awsome. I also was changed to a different area in my ward.  I was a little bummed because I'm not teaching Martin and Vincent anymore but I still get to see them at church so thats good.

My sweet mom sent me some things to read about Christ every morning in December.  I loved the one this morning about "Fishers of Men".  They dropped their nets and followed Christ.  In the world today those nets represent anything that pulls us away from our relationship with our Heavenly Father or from His restored church.  Christ is calling for us to follow him is these last days and we need to be able to drop our "nets" and follow Christ. I just really love that.

I am growing so much on my mission.  I hope all of you guys who read these emails of mine will remember to drop the things of the world and follow Christ. I love all of you and hope you all can have a great week!

WEEK 18

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty good always full of ups and downs but more ups than downs so thats good! This week was cool Elder Diaz and I went to Concon bay twice which is sweet.  Concon is a beach town and it's super beautiful and sandy like everywhere.   It is in a rich area so we literally see like Ford Raptors and Porsche 911s  everywhere.  Sad thing the people are usually smoking in them.  Like best way to ruin a car haha! Tuesday we were there for intercambios (exchanges).  I was with Elder Horton one of my leaders de zona.   I loved it because we both like to adventure so he was really fun to talk too.  Elder Horton has just six months left so it was really good for me to talk to him.  I tried to learn a much as I could.  Then we were there Saturday to help the ward missionaries.  I was on splits with a guy in the ward.  He was super funny he told me he and his wife can't have kids so he is a gamer.  He had just purchased an Xbox and wondered if I knew anything about it!  If you know me you are laughing right about now!  Inside I was laughing so hard as he was talking to me about all his games.

One other funny thing, a lady in our ward just randomly was like hey I have two Smurfs for you.  She gives them to us and they are old and very used super funny haha!  Well one of the Smurfs was an angry one and the other was a happy one.  While she is handing them to us she says the mad one is for Elder Diaz and the happy one is for you Elder Eyre.  Inside I died laughing.  Elder Diaz is always telling me I need to be more serious!

We had a few family nights this week which I love they always serve us great food and then we share scriptures with them.  This old Grandpa took one of my Book of Mormons, the ones we give out to people, and asked If I would write my testimony in it.  Turns our he wanted to give it to a friend that lives far away.  His friend wanted it with a missionaries testimony in it for protection.  That was super cool for me even though writing in Spanish is very hard for me. I did it I just hope he can read it!

Everything is good I just continue to strengthen my testimony here and have a love for the gospel, for Chile and for the people.  Sometimes I'm like why the freak can't I be speaking Spanish in California and hit up a McDonalds and get a huge Poweraid haha!  Anyways all is good I know God has a path for me to complete my mission and just gotta keep holding onto that iron rod!

Love ya guys tons you're all the best,
Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week was pretty good besides the fact that I didn't get the usual Thanksgiving feast haha!  This past Sunday was awesome Elder Collins and I decided to fast with the intentions of getting our investigators to come to church.  Guess what happened?!?  Yup they came to church!  It was just amazing and we also had some less actives show up as well.  This experience was REALLY great for me and strengthened my testimony of fasting. Every week I have a pocket of Hi Chews for Martin and Vicente if they come to church.  I usually go home with a pocket full of Hi Chews, not this week, it was so awesome and made me so happy.

Our ward boundaries changed and that is crazy my sector is huge now.  We now have lots and lots of walking to do.

The best part of my week happened Monday, P-Day.  My comp and I went to the temple.  I noticed I was getting a bunch of weird looks and someone even called me Colin.  Turns out the Viña del Mar missionaries that were on their way home were at the temple with their mission president.  Afterwards I got to talk to all of them.  They all said how awesome Colin is and that they love him so much.  They told me Colin's companion is also an amazing missionary.  I took some pics with his president so that they can show Colin it was really fun.

This next week I will be getting a new comp.  It is crazy it is already time for a change.  I will say my fasting experience was really just so awsome and such a testimony builder.  I know fasting can do micacles and I know next week is fast Sunday so you guys can all fast for something.  I really encourage you guys to do it and do it with real intentions and with all your heart.  I know that our prayers will be answered.

I love you guys all so much have a great week.
