WEEK 100

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Well its my last week and I'm kinda sad.  The mission for me has been way cool!  I have been able to learn a lot of things and I'm so grateful for everything that I have been able to do.  I know that Heavenly Father lives and I truly know that the gospel blesses the lives of others:)  I'm grateful for every experience that I have had while I have been on my mission and I wouldnt trade anything for them.  I remember when I left my family for the first time it was just so hard!  Now  I'm so grateful for the hardships that I've had because it helped me to grow.  I also love all the Chileans.  They are all so nice and its going to be hard to leave them!

Thanks to everyone for all the emails and for everything that you guys have done for me.  I will be seeing you all soon :)

WEEK 99

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Bueno this week has been pretty cool I am in a new sector in Valparaiso.  I love it because its just a bunch of hills with a really cool view of ViƱa del Mar and the ocean.  Just walking around everything is really beautiful.  At the same time it makes me grateful for everthing that I have.

My new Ward is cool and everyone is pretty nice.  I am only going to be here for two more weeks which I am excited and sad all at the same time.

This week we were able to visit some new investigators and actually they were really receptive!  I know that God really does watch out for every one of his children and that he loves us:) I hope everyone has a good week and I will see ya guys real soon!

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

What up family and friends!! This week has been pretty fun. It was funny because last week my Mom emailed me and told me she had to talk in Sacrament meeting and that she needed my to pray for her! I was pretty happy because it was her and not me.  Then on Thursday my Bishop called us and asked if we could speak Sunday in Sacrament Meeting -  I about died!

Luckily it all turned out pretty good and it wasn't that hard.  The only bummer thing was the guy who talked after me talked about Lightning McQueen from Cars.  He talked about Lightning McQueen's path to becoming a humble car and how we should all humble ourselves before the Lord.  It was way better then mine because he quoted the Cars movie - Haha!

Everything else here in Chile has been pretty awesome. It has been way fun to be able to be here this last little while and give it all to the Lord.  One thing I've learned is that after we give it our all and really work our hardest we can give it over to the Lord and he will help us out with the rest.

I love all you guys back home so much have a great week!

WEEK 98

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Well this week was good and crazy!  First we almost had a baptism with a cool little kid on Monday.  We had a signature from his mom that he could be baptized and my comp and I were so pumped.  We passed by his house on Wednesday and this Grandma comes out and tells us she is a Jehovah's Witness.  She was so mad that her grandson was going to get baptized.  She told us her daughter would be excommunicated from the  Jehovah's Witness church if the kid got baptized.  Then on Saturday the grandparents took the kid to a different city so he couldnt get baptized.  Man I couldn't believe how hard core they were.  We aren't going to give up on the family so we will see what happens.

This week I am getting changed to another sector in Valparaiso.  I am really excited but sad at the same time because I love my sector that I'm in right now.  I will be there for 3 weeks to train an Elder to be a leader in the mission.  I am pretty pumped about that.  It's actually fun helping others.

I am glad I'm here and I know that God is always blessing us:)

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey family back home! This week has been really good. We got the chance today to visit a really cool lake in the Andes Mountains today. We took a two hour drive up the mountain to get to it but it was really cool.  It was a little cold with all the snow and it being winter time here in Chile!

On a spiritual note its been a great week. I've been studying about the Atonement and the happiness that we receive when we apply it to our lives. This week I read a talk given by Elder Neilson about the Atonement.  It has been awesome to grow my testimony about the power of it.  I think the thing I love most is being able to share my testimony with others.   I love to see others apply it to their lives and also gain a testimony about Christ and His plan he has for us to repent for our sins, to grow, and progress then come back to him, through the atonement. I know that the way for us to obtain happiness in this life is through it.

Have a Rad week I love you all!

WEEK 97

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Bueno this week was pretty great!  I got to meet Elder Packer's son who is a Seventy and I also had to say a prayer in front of him.  I was kinda scared but it turned out really well!

We almost had a baptism this week.  We just needed the signature of the kids mom.  We are going to have a lesson this week with her so we can get the signature.

Other than that eveything is just great here in Chile and we are working hard!  I am so grateful for everything I have here and for the people that I can help!

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre from Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty good. My zone had a conference with our President this week and I loved it.  I will share the focus of it! In the Zone Conference  and for pretty much my whole mission my President has been really focused on the importance of teaching the simplicity of the gospel to our investigators.  That was the focus of this conference.  One thing I've learned on my mission is that sometimes members complicate things and explain them in ways that are crazy long haha.  Really the gospel of Jesus Christ is so simple. Children can even listen and gain testimonies about our Savior Jesus Christ and I love that so much.  My whole mission I've been trying to teach simply with the spirit, with power, and the authority.   I have seen the miracles that have come from teaching like this and also looking at gospel topics and applying them to the basic things in our lives. I've learned that as we learn about the gospel and apply them in the most basic things that we do everyday we will grow to understand the gospel even better and feel the confirmation by the Holy Ghost that these things are true.

I love you all so much back home. Have a RAD week! Besitos haha!!

WEEK 96

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty good we did an activity called the NBA Finals and we had a point system.  You could get a free throw a dunk and 3 points from down town hahah! Also at the end of the day the points were called buzzer beaters and we doubled the points.  It was way fun and as a zone we found 34 new investigators playing the game so we were way pumped!  I love how the Lord is always so willing to bless us in everything that we do in this life!

We were privileged  to have Elder Teixeira, a General Authority Seventy who is over our area (Chile, Argentina and Paraguay)  come and speak at our Stake Conference.  He was there to re-organize our stake.  It was awesome because I was able to shake hands with him.  It was then I noticed I had made a BIG missionary mistake.  I had forgotten to wear my name tag!!!  I was so embarrassed.  He didn't say anything but I am sure he noticed.  After the meeting I went up to him and apologized and he kind of laughed and said don't worry about it.  It all ended on good terms!

All is well here in Chile.  I love the people and I love serving them.

Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty good. I have been reading about the Atonement and Repentance this week so that I can better teach about it and better apply it in my own life.  It has been awesome being able to share it this week with the people that we are teaching here in Chile.  Even better is when we get to see a person apply it in their lives and grow, become better, and be happier through Christ's Atonement.  I really love the Atonement so very much and its so dear to my heart because I know that through it I grow closer to Christ and I am a happier missionary and a happier person.  I am so thankful for all the opportunities that I have to repent for my sins, even the litttle tiny ones that a lot of times we don't even notice.

I love you all so much back home have an amazing week.

Elder Colby Eyre

WEEK 95

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week was pretty awesome with some crazy things that we did. I'll tell you one story that happened.  Well to start you all probably know that my twin and I are terrible with doctor stuff and we drop like flys when we see anything that has anything to do with a hospitals haha. Well this week I was working with another elder in my mission named Elder Rose.  He actually got home from his mission today but in his area there is a huge hospital that was built in like World War II time period it's legit and way sketchy!  Anyway theres a lady that they are teaching that his been in the hospital for two months now.  They had a lesson with her that day and I was like aww man this is gonna be crazy and on the way there I was like hey man I might passout in there so if you turn around and I'm not behind you thats why haha!  When we got there I just looked at my companions feet the whole way to the ladies room.  We got to her room and it was huge with at least ten other people that were pretty messed up.  We started teaching her and I could tell I wasn't going to last long.  I sat down in a chair and we kept teaching and I just kept playing it off that we had ran up the stairs and I was tired but when we finished the lesson I was white as paper.  We chilled there for a while and I coughed in-between my knees to get some blood to my head.  As soon as I could we ran out of there because we were both pretty scared of that place.  That picture of me and the other missionary is of us running down the stairwell to get out of the hospital!

On the spiritual side of things I've been thinking a lot about a talk from Elder Uchtdorf this week that he gave about not looking for the glory of man but of God. It really got me thinking about the importance of not doing good things only to get the praise of other people, and the importance of serving others out of our love for them and for God.  Thats one thing that I have grown to love. Serving others can bring us so much happiness in our lives and even more when we can feel that the Lord has accepted our service.

I love all you guys back home so much and I hope you all get a little laugh from my email haha until next week.

Elder Colby Eyre

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was good but also a little long my comp and I are working hard to be able to see a lot of miracles and help other people.  I have an awesome companion.  He has this old monkey mask that looks like an old man from far away so sometimes he gets me pretty good with it!

Right now I'm reading in Ether and it's cool because we can realize that just by having faith we can open a gate to see many miracles.  Just like when the Brother of Jared saw the Lord's finger, kinda weird but its super cool! I mean who wouldn't want to see the Lord's finger haha!!!

I love all you guys so much and I'm grateful for all the emails love you guys a ton have a good week!

Elder Colin Eyre

WEEK 94

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey family and friends! This week has been pretty good!  It was Mother's Day so we got to talk to our families! It was pretty awesome being able to do that. Its so crazy because the 40 minutes that we have to talk with our families always goes by so stinkin fast!

Everything in the misssion is great and I just feel like time is going by really fast.  Even just the week to week is speeding by.  It feels like I just wrote this email yesterday and here I am doing it again today - haha! I am so grateful for this time I have out here.

This week I was reading in the Alma about the Anti Nephi Lehies. I love the faith that they had. I think that is one of the biggest things that we can learn from them, and how they hated sin so much that it was better for them to die instead of shedding the  blood of another again. I really love that and I think that we can learn a lot from the faith that they had and apply it to our lives and become a more faithful people and sin less!

Thanks everyone so much for emailing me and reading this email haha!  I love all you guys!

Elder Colby Eyre

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Well this week was the best because I got to talk to my sweet Mom :)  The first thing she said was hey see ya in 6 weeks haha it was funny!

I am so grateful to be a missionary in this time in Chile we are able to recieve so many blessings! My comp Elder Beard is a great comp we always walk around the streets everywhere laughing and happy.  I love it because then other people can really see that the Mormons are happy and maybe they will want to know why!!!

We are working really hard and we have a lot good investigators so we just need to help them be able to make the decision to be baptized.  Anyways all is well and we are having fun helping and serving others.

WEEK 93

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty crazy!  My companion, Elder Beard and I are pretty good friends.  It's actually pretty funny cuz we were talking a lot and we realized that we have played football against eachother before the mission.  The other great thing was for interchanges this week I was put with Elder Salazar and it was really fun.  We talked a ton but it was cool cuz we got the chance to change the lives of others.

We had a meeting in ViƱa Friday so I saw a bunch of my friends.  I am so grateful to be here on my mission in Chile and to have the opportunity of making and having so many great friends.

President Diaz shared a message this week with us and talked about the scripture found in Alma 6:6.  It talks about missionary work and the importance of praying for our friends that don't know much about God.  It talks about how we can help them just by simply praying or fasting for them so that was cool:)

I hope all is good in Utah and I love ya guys a ton!

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty great! One experience that was really awesome was an interview that I had with my mission president.  We talked about the importance of taking notes. The thing is after 22 months on the mission I'm amazing at taking notes!  However, once I turn the page to write some more its probably the last time I see that page again haha!! That is where I learned something new.  My President Morgan explained that our notes should be like a favorite scripture. We should go back and ponder about what we have written. That is something very important and if we do so we will receive impressions of things we should do and we will be able to grow more spiritually.

The missions pretty sweet I'm still with my companion from Idaho and its been tons of fun to be together and to teach lots of people.  I love all you guys back home so much have an amazing week.

Week 92

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Crazy week!  My companion ended his mission and that was pretty sad.  We were able to work really hard before he left and actually able to baptize Ayelen.  It was way cool because she actually has a way cool family and her mom used to not go to church but now she had started to come back.

My new comp is Elder Beard.  He is super cool and I kinda know him.  He is also from Utah.  I am so happy to be here and be able to work in the Lord's work.
Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week was pretty awesome!  A couple in our ward was baptized this week and they are from Venezuela and just recently moved to Chile. They truly are so stinking great and faithful! Its been crazy because I've been able to see all the problems that they have had to overcome in order to be baptized.  I've watched them grow and overcome their challenges that they had.  It has strengthened my testimony so much to watch them grow and progress.   It's funny because I'm sure our Father in Heaven is doing the same thing with us.  When we are able to grow and become stronger disciples and become more valiant in keeping his commandments I am sure that he is so happy.  I also think that when we are going through hard times Heavenly Father  is there right by our sides encouraging us to keep going.  The blessings of the gosple are so awesome and I'm sure we can't even comprehend all that are there for us as we live the gosple and keep his commandments.

It just makes me so happy and glad that I have a Heavenly Father thats encouraging me to keep going and he will never leave my side! I love all you guys back home so much have an amazing week!

Week 91

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Esta semana fue genial. Hemos visto muchos milagros ahhh just joking!  This week was pretty great and we were able to baptize two people.   It was so fun, we were able to get  permission for my old comp (E'Cheney) to sleepover with us Saturday night and then Sunday morning we woke up at 5am to run to the church and start filling the baptismal font for the service at 8am.  It was an awesome baptism with Carolina, her husband and the rest of her family.  You could definitely feel the spirit so strong.  We also have a family in the ward who is adopting a kid with some disabilities.  They wanted him to wait until they knew he understood what baptism was and make sure it was his decision.  He was also baptized.  Anyway it was really neat to be able to teach him we kept it as simple as possible so that he understood.  It was a pretty cool spiritual experience.  We have witnessed many miracles in this family in such a short time.

I'm so happy to be here and it's the best when we can help others!  Love you all a ton have a great week:)

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty great and the spirit has been pretty high.  The earth has also been moving quite a bit here in Santiago! Haha All the earthquakes that have happened have been pretty stinking crazy but also pretty fun! In this last earthquake we were walking down the street with a youth from our ward visiting people and then all of a sudden all the cables in the streets started to swing and and the ground started to move its a pretty crazy feeling!

This week as I was reading the scriptures I read a little about service in Mosiah 18:26-27 when it talks about all the people with Alma giving everything they could! I love this scripture because I think that its so important that all give what we can.  That is what the Lord expects of us and if we can achieve that, the Lord will.  We will also be able to have so much happiness in our lives!

I love all you guys so much back home and I hope you all have an amazing week.

WEEK 90

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Hey this week was pretty great!  We worked really hard and had some fun:)  On Easter I made sure the Eyre legend kept strong by having my comp go on an Easter egg hunt!.  It was so funny he found the eggs and I timed him to see how long it would take to find them.  Then he hid the eggs and timed me - we tied!  Haha!  On Thursday we had a stake activity giving tours of our church.  We ended up having over twenty investigators walk through so that was super cool.  Hopefully we will have some good contacts come from that.  Then on Friday we had a Zone Conference and it was pretty great.  The mish pres gave a capacitation (training) on the Book of Mormon but it was really cool:)  Lastly, today I have to get a flu shot but my bro Elder Salazar will be there so I should be good.  Hopefully no passing out!!  All is well in Chile and I hope all is great in the U.S.A.

Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats Up fambam and friends! This week has been pretty good. We have been teaching quite a few people.  One family we are teaching are immigrants from Venezuela.  They are really cool and very close to being baptized.  They also have cousin from Venezuela we are teaching as well. This past Sunday the cousin decided to come to church and then last night we had a Family Home Evening with two other families and the people from Venezuela.  We decided to share a lesson about service and the importance of it in our lives! It was so cool because at the end of the lession I talked about the happiness that service has brought me in my life and shared a story.  Then I asked if anyone else had something to share on service.   Everyone had something to share even the cousin.  When the cousin began sharing tears started to come to his eyes and I know we could all feel the spirit so strong.  I love being able to see how the sprit prepares others to receive the gospel.  The mission is really awesome and so full of little experiences like this.  I'm so thankful for the Spirit and that I am able to have all these little experiences which continue to strengthen my testimony.

I love all you guys back home so much and I'm so thankful for everything you guys do for me! Also a shout out to my great parents for making my Easter fun and sending me a package - you guys are the best!

WEEK 89

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This week was pretty great!  We were able to baptize two people.  The first was Benjamin who is just a little kid and he is so awesome.  Then we baptized Emilio who is seventeen, he is really big and so funny. I just love him, he is like a bro.  I love being able to help these families out so that they too can have an eternal family.

My comp and I are working really hard and its fun.  We have a lot of people to teach and we should have another baptism this coming week.  I am loving the work and I know that God always wants to bless us in every aspect of our lives

Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats up family and freinds! This week has been pretty fun. In our ward we were able to do something that is called an Open Chapel.  It's kind of like an open house for investigators.  We set up a few things in the chapel for people to be able to tour and learn a little bit about our church.   Before the Open Chapel we had passed out over 400 fliers during the week to invite people to come and learn.  We had also given them to members to invite non-members.  We hoped everyone would come and meet the mormons haha!  When the Open Chapel started there wasn't a soul in sight.  There were only a few members and the missionaries!  Luckily we had a few other missionaries come from other wards so we all went out in front of our chapel trying to contact people and invite them to come in.  We were able to talk a good amount of people to come in and take a tour.  It was just funny knowing how many fliers we passed out and not a single person come to see the open house because of them!

On the bright side of things today we were able to go to the temple and do a session.  I got really lucky because when we were just about to get there I realized that I had forgotten my recommend.  I told my comp we were going to have to do some amazing sweet talking to get in.  I even thought how I would act so they would have sympathy for me and let me in.  Well it didn't work at all but luckily they got a hold of my mission president and they were able to let me in!   It is just so awesome because every time I go to the temple my testimony strengthens about families and that they can be forever. That is why it is so important to keep our promises with our Heavenly Father so we can receive all the blessings he has in store for us. I love you guys all so much back home have an amazing week!

WEEK 88

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

This past week we had permission to visit my comps last area.  It just so happens to be my good friend, Elder Salazar's area.  We had a great visit and also made sure to get in a great lesson.  It was so much fun.

We also had a baptism set this week but on Sunday the Sister called me and her son who was getting baptized was throwing up all night.  We ended up giving him a priesthood blessing which was pretty awesome.  He will probably get baptized next week.

I just loved General Conference on Sunday.  It was kinda weird to think that it was my last conference on the mission -  but its all good:)   I loved the last talk from Elder Cook.  When he  talked about the adversary and how many times when we face difficulties then we start to progress.  Having struggles is part of the refiner's fire and helps us to become better and grow.

I hope that everyone is having a great time in the USA, love you all a ton:)
Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Whats up family and friends way back home! This week was really fun and pretty great because it was Conference weekend! I'm pretty sure all the missionaries in the world will write home this week about how awesome it was.  I figure I will jump on the chance and do so myself haha.  I loved all the talks that were given in this conference. I especially loved the one given by Elder Costa.  He gave a talk for all the investigators and I loved it because it talked so much about all the basic principles you need to be baptized.  He talked about repentance and how nothing draws us closer to Christ than a desire to change.  The other awesome thing was we had some investigators that came to that session and heard Elder Costa's talk.  I was just jumping up and down inside when I heard it because it was perfect for them to hear.  Afterwards we were able to visit the investigators and I asked them what talk was their favorite and they both said the talk from Elder Costa!  We challenged them both to be baptized and they both said YES!  I think the coolest thing was just how perfectly the Lord does his work and how the Holy Ghost works with all of us because Elder Costa's talk was exactly what they needed to hear and all it took was a little push from and us and they said yes.

I love the gospel and I have learned on the mission how the Lord knows each one of our needs and he will provide for them if we just accept him.  I love all you guys back home so stinking much and I hope you have an amazing week.

WEEK 87

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre from Vina del Mar Chile:

Buena this week was pretty great!  I have a new companion and it's crazy cuz I'm going to be his last comp before he heads home:)  His parents are also going to come to Chile to pick him up so that is cool:)

We have been working hard and they say that the Elders that are close to finishing the mish get some great blessings.  I think we will be able to help a lot of people feel the spirit and get BAPTIZED so that is super cool!  We are still working with our investigator, Carolina.  She had planned to get baptized this past week but then called me and said she wasn't ready.  We have also been working with a kid named Benjamin.   We just baptized one of his family members and now he wants to have the missionary lessons so that is pretty sweet.

Anyways I'm super pumped for General Conference.  It's going to by way fun.  For us missionaries it's like watching a real great movie!

Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey guys this week has been pretty good!  We were able to have an amazing experience and go to the temple with two of our investigators. It was awesome because the church did a really cool event for the start of the Easter season.  We have cards and a video to share with others on the atonement and the real meaning of Easter.  I loved it so much because the video talked so much about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that he lives today!  It is so awesome because we can feel his love for us every single day and we can know that we can overcome death through Jesus Christ.  We can also have eternal families.

I love this gospel so much and I'm so thankful for the amazing family that I have back home! I love all you guys so much and I hope you have an amazing week!

WEEK 86

This Week From Elder Colin Eyre in Vina del Mar Chile:

Well things are getting pretty crazy here in Vina Del Mar!  It is time to change companions which is really sad because I have had a great time and lots of success with Elder Cheney.  He has become a real good friend.  My new comp is Elder Hansen from Tooele, Utah and he is on his last transfer so that is pretty cool.  We are already kind of friends but I'm always really happy to be able to serve in the lords vineyard!

This week we had a lot of fun and we worked hard.  We almost got a baptism with Carolina but she is going to end up getting baptized next week.  It was way cool because at first she came to church with just her daughters.  Her husband is actually less active but on Sunday the entire family came and her husband showed up all dressed in his nice suit.  It made me so happy to see all her family there.

Chile is fun and I love being able to see God's hand in not only my life but others. :)

Elder Colin Eyre

This Week From Elder Colby Eyre in Santiago Chile:

Hey Homies back home - I miss you all!  This week has been pretty good. We had Stake Conference and Pres. Morgan came and spoke on surrounding ourselves with positive and Christ-like things.  He started out with the story of Lot in the Bible and how after he had separated from Abraham he went and set up his tent looking out over the city of Sodom.  This was a very sinful city.  King Benjamin called all of the people in the kingdom to come hear him speak.  All those that came set up their tents to face King Benjamin.  Everyday as the people left their tents they would see King Benjamin's tent and were reminded of his faithfulness and righteousness and what a good example he was.  Now in today's world we can't really change our front doors to face something great like the temple but we can surround ourselves with uplifting pictures or quotes that we will help us grow spiritually and also help us grow closer to Christ.

I love this example so much and I know that as we surround ourselves with uplifting things we will grow closer to Christ and we will feel his spirit stronger.

I love all you guys back home so much have a great week!
